THE SINS OF SODOM

or

Was Homosexuality the reason God destroyed the city of Sodom?

Or is their a Societal connection being overlooked?

IS THE BIBLE GOD'S WORK, OR MAN'S? Who is the authority behind the words used in the scripture message?

In Isaiah 51:16 God told Isaiah,"I have put my words in thy mouth."

In Jeremiah 1:19 God told Jeremiah, "...behold, I have put my words in thy mouth."

In Ezekial 3:16-17 the prophet says, "And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me saying, Son of Man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at MY MOUTH, and give them warning FROM ME.

And Jeremiah the 23rd chapter warns about prophets who dream up a doctrine and say that it came from God. See verses 16 and 25.

Finally; Jesus did not speak his own words. Deut. 18:18 I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren like unto thee, and will PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH..."

And Jesus says his doctrine was not his own (John 7:16), and that he was told what to speak, and what he should say.(John 12:49).

THE QUESTION Is Society partly to blame, completely to blame, or somehow disinvolved from the terrible thing that ravages our moral fibre? Let us examine God's perception of what a society contributes to the self-percetion/deception process as regards communal dysfunction.

THE "PARAMETERS" In Lev 18:22, God says; "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

In Lev 18:23, God says; "Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith; neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

THE SYMPTOM Gen 13:13-32 Tells of the wickedness of Sodom, but it goes further. It also tells the story of God confiding to Abraham, His intentions regarding the city of Sodom, and the subsequent agreement from God, that if there were fifty righteous persons within the city, it would be spared. This number erodes till it reaches ten. Verse 13 tells the symptoms under consideration; ... "the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly."

ANALYSIS OF SODOM'S INIQUITY For a proper understanding of Sodom's wickedness, we must not rely exclusively upon interpretation of the passages in Gen 13. Ezekial tells Israel that thay were more wicked that Sodom, yet they were not known for the abomination of "Sodomy." In chapter sixteen, Ezekial speaks of the "iniquity" of Sodom. It was a Societal" condemnation. Let Ezekial be heard....verses 48-50...

"As I live, saith the Lord God, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.

"Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, PRIDE, FULNESS OF BREAD, AND ABUNDANCE OF IDLENESS was in her, and in her daughters, NEITHER DID SHE STRENGTHEN THE HAND OF THE POOR AND NEEDY."

"And they were HAUGHTY, AND COMMITTED ABOMINATION BEFORE ME: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

COMPARISON WITH OUR SOCIETY I do not intend to enter into dialogue with militant persons who do not acknowledge God's right to legislate, nor will I entertain discussion, at this point, as to the variant interpretations, or "slants" put upon the Scriptures of late.

I can look around me, at the terrible things allowed in our society, by our society, in the name of some perceived "inalienable right:" which is NOT GOD GIVEN.

It must be understood, these rights are a fiction of men. Men have said, "I can do anything I want to" because "It only affects me,"and men claim for themselves the sovereign right to rule their own lives.

GOD HAS NOT GIVEN UP THAT RIGHT, and the Society that usurps it, has to answer for it.

Sodom did not wake up one morning, and find all of her men were homosexuals. The city BECAME prosperous, BECAME idle, BECAME haughty, and God gave them up to BECOME abominable, before destroying them. It was a process, over time.

We too, became prosperous, enjoyed "fulness of bread," became idle, having too much time on our hands, and are certainly behaving haughtily when we spout forth about our "rights" as we exercise them to condem- nation.

Our women are at war with the unborn, slaughtering them by the hundreds of thousands, yearly, because they are perceived as a "burden, too grievous to bear."

And God is giving us up to abomination. And this, Before our destruction. The Floods, Draughts, Fierce storms, all serve as warnings. Unheeded warnings, as it turns out.

God gives yet another warning in the deaths this week of Princess Diana, and Mother Theresa. Will it be heeded?

THE WARNING Isa 57:1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; And merciful men are taken away, None considereth that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

God tells us to understand that sometimes he removes the righteous, to spare them from the calamities about to come upon the rest of us. Take heed, and repent of your haughtiness, Work to have such that you can share with others who have not, and regain control over your children, as regards moral discipline.

GOD IS WATCHING, AND LOOKING FOR 50 RIGHTEOUS SOULS.
