HE SHALL BE CALLED "THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."

Jer 23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

TRINITY ARGUMENT:
SINCE HE IS CALLED," THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" HE MUST BE GOD.

REBUTTAL: THE HOLY CITY, JERUSALEM,
"SHALL BE CALLED THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."
NO ONE CLAIMS THAT JERUSALEM IS GOD.

PREMISE: THE STATEMENT....IS FALSE, WITH NEITHER MERIT, NOR FOUNDATION!
"TO BE CALLED `THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS' PROVES ONE IS GOD,"

COMPARE:
JER 23:6 ...a name ...he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
JER 33:16...a name...she shall be called, The LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

TO BE CALLED A GOD DOES NOT MAKE ONE A GOD:
Psa 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods;
and all of you are children of the most High.

EVEN IF GOD CALLED JESUS A GOD,
THAT WOULD NOT OF ITSELF PROVE THAT JESUS IS GOD

JESUS HIMSELF ARGUED THIS VERY POINT:
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods? (This certainly includes Jesus)

JESUS CLAIMED TO BE THE SON OF GOD, NOT GOD:
John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

THE WHOLE POINT OF THE STATEMENTS OF JEREMIAH WAS TO ESTABLISH THE SOURCE OF ANY RIGHTEOUSNESS TO WHICH THE JEWS CAN LAY CLAIM. IT IS NOT THEIR OWN. JEHOVAH GOD IS THE SOURCE OF THEIR RIGHTEOUSNESS. ASSIGNING A NAME IN THEIR MIDST, SERVES TO REMIND THEM OF THIS. THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MANY OF THE NAMES ASSIGNED IN THE OLD TESTAMENT.

ADAM CALLED HIS WIFE'S NAME EVE:
Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

BUT SHE WAS TO BE CALLED WOMAN:
Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

TO SAY THAT SHE SHALL BE CALLED "WOMAN",
DOES NOT IMPLY THAT ADAM "ADRESSED" EVE AS "WOMAN...!"

WHAT A PERSON OR THING IS "NAMED," AND WHAT HE, SHE, OR IT, IS "CALLED" MAY BE DIFFERENT. I HAVE HEARD OF PEOPLE WHO WERE "CALLED" "A JERK," BUT I HAVE NEVER MET OR HEARD OF ONE WHO IS SO NAMED. MANY ARE THE NAMES PEOPLE "CALL" EACH OTHER; FEW OF THOSE ARE FOUND, ON THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATES, TO BE IN COMPLIANCE THEREUNTO. TO BE "CALLED" AN ADULTRESS DOES NOT REQUIRE A NAME CHANGE:

Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be "called" an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

GOD WAS GOING TO MAKE CHANGES:
Isa 62:2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be "called" by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

BUT THE JEWS STILL MIGRATE TO ISRAEL, OR CANAAN,
NOT TO HEPHZIBAH OR BEULAH:
Isa 62:4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

CONSIDER, WHAT'S IN A NAME:
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be "called" Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

NOTE: THE PASSAGE DOES NOT SAY "HIS NAME SHALL BE..." BUT HIS NAME SHALL BE "CALLED..." WHEN WE TELL A MOTHER THAT HER CHILD'S NAME IS "PRETTY,"WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THE CHILD IS "NAMED" PRETTY. THE NAME IS "CALLED" PRETTY; "PRETTY" IS NOT THE NAME.

NAMES CARRIED A SIGNIFICANCE ATTRIBUTED BY THE NAMER THEREOF:

THE NAME "BABEL" FUNCTIONS TO "REMIND":
Gen 11:9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

AND "MOSES" MEANS RESCUED:
Exo 2:10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter and he became her son. And she "called" his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

EVEN THE BURNING BUSH LEFT A NAME-MEMORIAL:
Numbers 11:3 And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

WE SEE THAT TO CALL ONE BY A NAME DOES NOT IMPLY IDENTIFICATION WITH THE ELEMENTS, OR IMPLICATIONS OF THE NAME.

TO BE "CALLED" GODS DOES NOT MAKE US GODS,

AND TO BE "CALLED" THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS"
DOES NOT MAKE JESUS GOD.
